A Simple Concept to Become the Best at Anything

It's really easy to want to be the best at whatever it is you do. That's the ambition of most people. In fact, I don't know anyone who wants to be average, content with living in the land of mediocrity forever. Wanting to be the best is not uncommon.

And yet while everybody wants the results, it's so rare to want the lifestyle.

Wanting to make a lot of money, be at the top of your field, or be the smartest person in the room are ambitions of the average.

But saving more than you spend, grinding it out over time, and reading every day are ambitions of the rare.

Wanting it is easy. Living the lifestyle is hard.

So if you want to become the best at anything, you need to catalyze a shift in your mindset. You need to think differently.

Let's look at some simple math, using sports as an example.

If an athlete trains four times per week, that’s sixteen times per month. If the athlete misses one training session, that’s six percent of their training. And, while this might not seem like a big deal, you would get fired from most jobs for missing six percent of your work.

If you want to become the best at anything, you need to start thinking like the business owner, not the employee.

You need to do important things when you don't feel like doing them. You need to show up when you'd rather be somewhere else. You need to execute when it's time to execute, not when it's convenient. You need to understand that those who work hard get "lucky" more often; those who are lazy don't.

Start thinking like the business owner, not the employee. With this mindset, you can become the best at anything.
