Why "Trust the Process" Is More Than Just an Overused Phrase

Every day, millions of caterpillars around the world are trapped inside a cocoon and thinking the world is about to end. Moments later they become magnificent butterflies.

Scary times often lead to bright comeback stories. And while caterpillars might not have the cognitive ability to "trust the process" they sure could benefit from the phrase. It doesn't make it any less scary in the moment, but think about how much better the process would be if they knew better days were coming!

The metaphors of this are limitless. Here's a few examples:

We all know that diamonds are formed under immense pressure. Grapes must be crushed in order to make wine. Olives must be pressed in order to make oil. Seeds grow in complete darkness before springing forth into the light.

So whenever you feel under pressure, crushed, pressed, or in darkness, remember that you are in a powerful place of transformation. "Trust the process" is not just an overused phrase. It's a truthful reminder to keep going even when times are tough.

For us to truly "trust the process" we need to be reminded from time to time to be patient.

You can't rush development. You can't expedite expertise. You can't accelerate wisdom.

Stop trying to skip steps and hack your way to sustainable success. True development takes time. Accept that and enjoy the process!
