You Can Feel Successful Along the Way

MapQuest

Chances are you envision a better version of yourself somewhere down the road. You're scratching and clawing your way to the person you one day dream of becoming. Maybe you are laying the foundation of a business you want to start. Or perhaps you are beginning the process of a total body transformation. You tell yourself that some day—some day—you are going to become that person.

Let me remind you of something that's important to remember:

You don’t have to be disappointed with yourself if you’re not where you want to be.

You can love your body and still want to improve it.

You can appreciate your financial state and still want it to grow.

You can be happy with who you are and still want to become better.

Progress does not require self-loathing. You can feel successful along the way.

When I was playing football in college, I had goals I wanted to achieve in the weight room. I wanted to hit certain numbers on bench press, squat, deadlift, and even some other measurables like my body weight.

Over the course of weeks and months I would inch closer to my target, but still not reaching the mark. And oftentimes my immediate reaction was "dang, look how much further I have to go" when it could've been "dang, look how far I've come."

Even when you haven't reached your goal yet, recognize the progress you've already made towards it. You can feel successful along the way.

Try to love yourself a little more this week!
